After Peter Parker is bitten by a genetically altered spider, he gains newfound, spider-like powers and ventures out to solve the mystery of his parent's mysterious death.
 
What the critics said: A well-chosen cast and sure-handed direction allow The Amazing Spider-Man to thrill, despite revisiting many of the same plot points from 2002's Spider-Man.

What I said: This Movie Spells Doom for Sony's Spider-Verse.

With the recent announcement of Spider-Man reboot and working agreement between Sony and Marvel Studios I feel like Nostradamus in calling the end of the Sony's Spider-verse as we now know it.   If it wasn't for my great dislike hate of this version of the film it would have scored much higher on the rankings, as in top 5.
