A Geeky Viewpoint

The interweb is constantly filled with rumors and speculation, many have at least some basis in fact.

Over the past two weeks there has been much speculation about the future of The Amazing Spider-Man 3, and Spider-Man cinematic universe announced by Sony/Columbia back in December 2013.

With Roberto Orci moving on to the Director's chair in the Star Trek franchise, these rumors are more likely going to resurface and move forward.

I would expect Sony to move quickly to quiet them, however it time to look at the possibilities.

Sony could be attempting to clean house, lets just say the last two movies didn't perform well enough for the Spider-Man franchise. 

People could be jumping ship, some times to better things.  

One change I noticed was Marc Webb is no longer listed on several prominent sites as director for TASM3.  As recently as February Sony was stating Marc would be director of the third film.  In May during the premieres of TASM2 both Marc Webb and Andrew Garfield (Peter Parker/Spider-Man) were talking up plans for TASM3.   Note this has been an on/off/on tango for the past two years with Marc commitment to 20th Century Fox- Searchlight studio.
