In what many prognosticators predict will be a bad movie for superhero films in general, and sci-fi genre at Sony Picture Entertainment, Tom Rothman has been hired to replace Amy Pascal as chair of SPE.
Tom Rothman is most known for his tenure as President of 20th Century Fox where his micromanagement of a number of their Marvel Properties is well documented.
Those on the inside suggest he has been hired for one reason, to help SPE make hits on the cheap, something that Amy Pascal has been extremely unsuccessful at.
His hiring also will bring rumors of a potential sale of the Spider-Man IP back to Marvel in the next 18 months or so.
