What the critics said: Guardians of the Galaxy is just as irreverent as fans of the frequently zany Marvel comic would expect -- as well as funny, thrilling, full of heart, and packed with visual splendor.
What I said: A Great way to expand the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Guardians of the Galaxy highlights the extreme challenges in making a "space based" science fiction film. Not only does it cost a lot of money but there are challenges in dealing with physics that a earth based film does not encounter. Guardians of the Galaxy truly excelled at dealing with the physics and suffered in the rankings due to its cost to produce, an estimated $230 Million dollars; while the movie did extremely well domestically its international totals pale in comparison.
