In the last episode of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. - The Things We Bury (S2E8) Grant Ward (Brett Dalton) and Hydra Underboss Daniel Whitehall (Reed Diamond) watched a recorded news clip reporting the death of Grant's brother Senator Christian Ward (Tim DeKay) and their parents.

Have we been hoodwinked?   Multiple sites are reporting that this elaborate scenario was planned by Director Coulson (Clark Gregg), Christian Ward and Grant Ward as a plan to insure Grant could be the ultimate mole with Hydra, with his redemption in the Winter Finale.
