Six Pack of Actors Eyed for Jean Grey and Cyclops

Posted by Jeff Labels: , , ,

The Wrap reports that a six pack of Actors are currently in the mix for the parts of a younger Jean Grey and Scott Sommers (Cyclops).

Chloë Grace Moretz , Elle Fanning, and Hailee Steinfeld are the front runners for the part of the younger Jean Grey who was played by Famke Janssen  in the original X-Men series.

Hollywood insiders are currently describing some serious politicking in favor of Elle Fanning for the part.  From strictly a view of which character most looks like a younger Famke Janssen I need to give the nod to Hailee Steinfeld.

The above image has Famke Janssen on the Left portraying Kalama (ST:NG) in 1992 and the right is Hailee Steinfeld in a recent image.

For Scott Sommers a trio of up and coming young actors are being given a look; Ben Hardy, Charlie Rowe and Timothee Chalamet.   Scott Sommers was portrayed by James Marsden in the Original X-Men trilogy.

While I definitely have a favorite in the actress that are up, none of the actors up for the Scott Sommers part really excite me.    Ben Hardy (BBC Eastenders) has a look that may be close enough to James Marsden to say okay, but again strictly from the current pictures I hope they keep looking.

X-Men: Apocalypse - News

Posted by Jeff Labels: , , , , ,

Twentieth Century Fox has confirmed, FINALLY, that Bryan Singer will direct the forthcoming X-Men: Apocalypse movie set for release May 27, 2016.

Last month Michael Egan voluntarily withdrew his lawsuit against Bryan Singer in a Hawaiian Federal Court Room.   By withdrawing the case voluntarily Michael Egan still has the opportunity to refile the case at a future date, however I am not sure how the Hawaiian Statute of Limitations works in such case as he filed the original case shortly before the deadline to file such cases.   With that out of the way and Bryan Singer mostly vindicated in the case many believed it was just a matter of time before the announcement occurred.

X-men: Apocalypse is being scripted by Simon Kinberg from a story written by Singer, Kinberg, Michael Dougherty and Dan Harris.  Bryan Singer, Lauren Shuler Donner, Simon Kinberg and Hutch Parker are producing the film. Production is scheduled to begin filming early next year at Mel's Cité du Cinema in Montreal.

James McAvoy (Professor X), Michael Fassbender (Magneto), Jennifer Lawrence (Mystic), Hugh Jackman (Wolverine), Nicholas Hoult (Beast), Evan Peters (Quicksilver) and Channing Tatum (Gambit) have all be confirmed.   In addition younger versions of Jean Grey, Storm and Cyclops will be cast.

James McAvoy has let on that he will be going bald in the movie.

The elder cast including Sir Patrick Stewart (Professor X), Sir Ian McKellan (Magento), Halle Berry (Storm), Famka Jannsen (Jean Grey), James Marsden (Cyclops), Ellen Page (Kitty) amongst others have all indicated a interest in appearing.   Simon Kinberg responded to questions concerning their involvement with "If some of those characters were in the movie we would, but we'll see."

Please note as discussed in a much earlier topic there is already a planed Fox Marvel film for July 13th, 2018 sill have a hunch the Original Cast will return for that date.  I also wouldn't be shocked to see an X-Men film back into the traditional Memorial day weekend slot.
