Doctor Strange - to appear in Netflix's Iron Fist

Posted by Jeff Labels: , ,

Our friends over at Bleeding Cool are suggesting that Doctor Strange will make an appearance in Iron Fist TV/Netflix Series before appearing on the big screen.

According to sources details are still being worked out and from what I have read we are talking a cameo appearance, but time to wait and see.

Confirmed - Doctor Strange

Marvel Studios has confirmed that Benedict Cumberbatch has signed on to play Doctor Strange.

Cumberbatch best known for his role as Sherlock Homes in the modern retelling Sherlock on the BBC, produced by Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss.    He has also appeared in Star Trek: Into Darkness, The Hobbit Trilogy of films (two roles), Penguins of Madagascar, and the forth coming Imitation Game in which there is much Oscar speculation about his role of Alan Turning the mathematician and logician who helped crack the Enigma code during World War II for the British.

Benedict Cumberbatch also recently made headline news with his Engagement Announcement to actress/director Sophie Hunter, which was done the old fashion way, in the News Papers in England.

Plot Changes to Ant-Man

Posted by Jeff Labels: , , , , ,

Our friends at Stitch Kingdom recently got their hands on a updated plot synopses for Ant-Man.

The information provided by Stitch Kingdom begins to fill in the gap over the departure of Edgar Wright from the project.

There is a relatively minor change in Scott Lang (who is being portrayed by Paul Rudd) has been transformed from a Con-Man to Master Thief.   TomaTO TomatOH

The second change is a change in the back story and potentially an explanation on Hayley Atwell's character Peggy Carter being included in the film.   Hank Pym (portrayed by Michael Douglas) is now listed as a founding member of Avengers, in the comic book universe he is as well as his wife Janet Van Dyne.   Potentially we have a few older members of the Marvel Universe (cough cough Doctor Strange cough cough) that are being setup as the original Avengers that predate the current slate of MCU Avengers [which I will call Pre-Avengers].   The story in Ant-Man will be told as either flashbacks or introduction of the film.

A rumor that is currently making the rounds is that Janet Van Dyne, the original Wasp, was killed in action during the first class of Pre-Avengers in action, her death caused Hank Pym to stop using his powers.

If that is true the original Pre-Avengers include Doctor Strange, Hank Pym's Ant Man, Janet Van Dyne (Wasp), Peggy Carter and Howard Stark.

Speculation - Benedict Cumberbatch and Doctor Strange

Funny how an assembly of rumors can change at a moments notice in dealing with the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

I spent yesterday and this morning following up on a rumor that it had come down to Keanu Reeves and Benedict Cumberbatch for part of Sorcerer Supreme, Doctor Strange.

The rumor mill suggested that if Keanu Reeves could make John Wick into a financial success he would get the nod from the usual tight fisted Marvel Entertainment.   John Wick opened to somewhat disappointing number of the last weekend ($14.5 Million) and it appears that ended any hope that Keanu Reeves might of had.

Early indications that deal is structured a little differently than the deals that Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johannson and other stars have signed with Marvel and its going to cost Marvel more than they wanted to spend, not Robert Downey Jr type money but a good chunk of change.   Suggestion that the original deal is for four movies (two stand alone and two ensemble) with options for two additional films.

The date that was unofficial announced last spring is July 8, 2016.

The character Doctor Strange is anticipated to have a leading role in Avengers: Part 3 film.  Second part depending on how it is structured.

Doctor Strange casting Update

Several sites have suggested that the part of Doctor Strange has been offered to Ewan McGregor, yes that Jedi.

More to come.

UPDATE: Well numerous web-sites/blogs have indicated the part has been offered to Ewan McGregor, including one site who claims to know that Ewan personally visited his local comic store and bought out every Doctor Strange comic book/graphic novel in the store, a couple of site have suggested that Ewan McGregor is the top choice of three individuals; the other two on the current shortlist Matthew McConaughey and Jake Gyllenhaal.

I believe that any of the three actors brings a different experience/quality to the part and would be very different styles/flavors of the same character.

If all things were equal, I'd think Matthew McConaughy would get the nod over the other two because of the schedule of the movies the other two are obligated two.
