Vincent D'Onofrio as Kingpin

Posted by Jeff Labels: , , , ,

Back in June when Marvel announced that Vincent D'Onofrio (Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Full Metal Jacket) my only worry was that he didn't really feel like King Pin.

To be honest I felt the same way when Michael Clarke Duncan played The Kingpin in the 2003 20th Century Fox theatrical release.  Not the Michael Clarke Duncan awesome voice and screen presence was an issue, rather could he make a believable Kingpin.   As I am one of like 5 people on the planet that doesn't hate the 2003 Daredevil movie in its entirety I will leave it up to you to decide on Michael Clarke Duncan.

Yesterday I came across this press release photo of Vincent D'Onofrio at the release party of the Judge and you know what, he truly looks like The King Pin.

That worry I guess is done for now.

Multiple sources are citing that Charlie Cox has signed on to be Matt Murdock (Daredevil) in the upcoming Netflix series set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

As an actor Charlie Cox is most well known as Owen Slater in Boardwalk Empire.

Rating the Marvel Universe on Film - Number 30

Daredevil
Released: 2003
Final Score: 4/32
Jeff: 3/32

A man blinded by toxic waste which also enhanced his remaining senses fights crime as an acrobatic martial arts superhero.

What the Critics Said: Passable if derivative as entertainment, Ben Affleck fits the role but the film is not up to par with recent superhero films.

What I said: To bad it isn't better.

When watching Daredevil I kept telling myself "this really isn't a bad movie" yet once the film is done and the popcorn is all gone it becomes "that was a bad movie."

Daredevil is a movie that audiences should like but don't, critics should hate but don't, should be better but isn't, while you get he idea.  It near impossible to say what is wrong with Daredevil as it is a really long list of minor issues.   However to me the question of whether Daredevil was a violent vigilante or a campy superhero story really is the deciding factor.

This is also the first movie on the list that has an Extended Director's Cut with approximately 30 minutes of additional footage.
